I am blind or visually impaired: the story in one minute

The safety notice

Using TEK today

TEK is in development. The second generation has not been field validated. Its speed from the world to the skin is modeled, not measured, and its firmware is specified, not written. Nothing on this site is an instruction to stop using your mobility aid, your guide dog, or your orientation and mobility training. If you are newly blind, work with an orientation and mobility specialist first. When the second generation passes the replacement test, this page will say so, with the results, the date, and the testers who did the work.

What about the mobility aid as a signal to drivers and to people around me?

A mobility aid also tells the world that you are blind, and in many places the law protects people who carry one. TEK does not replace that signal. Whether and how to carry an identification mobility aid after the second generation passes its milestones is your choice, and we will publish guidance with the test results.
